Believe it or not! A match in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League or Dhaka Premier League 2018 (DPL) in Bangladesh was delayed as players and officials were caught in a traffic jam. The incident took place on Tuesday when a 50-over contest between Kalabagan Krira Chakra and Mohammedan Sporting Club match at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) in Savar was delayed for around half an hour as players along with officials failed to make it to the venue on time. The match was supposed to begin at 9:00 am local time but took place 30 minutes late than the scheduled time.

“The players and match officials had to wait for a long time as vehicular movement came to a halt in front of Savar Export Processing Zone (EPZ),” Kalabagan Krira Chakra coach Jalal Ahmed Chowdhry was quoted as saying by prothomalo.com.

Reportedly, the players and officials then reached the venue by rickshaw and eventually the match took place. As per ESPNCricinfo screenshot, it is evident that the traffic jam caused the delay.

The match turned out to be a close contest with Mohammedan Sporting Club emerging victorious by just two wickets. Batting first, Kalabagan Krira Chakra were bowled out for 260 in 47.5 overs. Former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful was part of the Kalabagan Krira Chakra team and scored valuable 127. However, Mohammedan Sporting then chased down the total with four balls to spare.

This was not the first time, a cricket match was delayed by a traffic jam. Last year in December a Ranji Trophy game between Karnataka and Vidarbha was delayed by half an hour after the latter was caught in the traffic snarl.
