We have seen politicians take bizarre steps for their election campaigns. Apart from the promises, which most of the time end up being fake, politicians bring onboard celebrities from various fields to campaign for them and attract the crowd. Recently, during the Gram Panchayat elections in Baburao Nagar, Shirur in Pune, to lure the voters, one of the Sarpanch contestants, Vitthal Ganpath went a notch ahead than rest. Believe it or not, the political promised to bring in Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli as the chief guest for the campaign. And what happened next will leave you in splits!
Instead of the original Kohli, all poor politician could manage was a lookalike of the Indian captain. The poster of Ramalinga Development Panel, which has Kohli’s portrait, reads: “main attraction Virat Kohli” has apparently gone viral now. It is reported that the party’s symbol happens to be a cricket bat and thus, the idea of making ‘Kohli’ the face of the campaign originated.
Here’s the poster which promises ‘main attraction Virat Kohli’
And here’s the Kohli lookalike who actually happened to be the ‘main attraction’
Meanwhile, Twitterati had a field day
So this actually happened. They put up an election rally ad saying Virat Kohli is going to campaign for us and they actually fooled public by bringing a lookalike of Virat Kohli 😂😂😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/Xl9GvAVi2W

Well, seeing the billboards with Kohli on them, the villagers would have had hopes of seeing the Indian captain and one of the best batsmen in the world. Eventually, all villagers got was a disappointment. Only politicians can pull off such brazen acts. This will definitely go down as one of the bizarre campaigns in the history of Indian elections!
