Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been ruled out from participating further in India vs Pakistan ICC Cricket World Cup after suffering a hamstring pull in his left leg while bowling his third over in the Pakistan innings. In what was a huge blow to India, Kumar felt tightness on his left hamstring after bowling his fourth delivery in his third over. The 29-year-old immediately headed back into the pavilion as a precautionary measure. It was later confirmed by the on-air commentators that Kumar will play no further role in the clash. Although the injury seemed to be a blessing in disguise for the Indian team with replacement bowler Vijay Shankar removing Imam-ul-Haq with his first delivery, Captain Virat Kohli will be worried about the injury of his prime fast bowler. The Indian team will also miss the services of Kumar in the death-overs if Pakistan takes the match deep.

Kumar has been in fine form at the 2019 Cricket World Cup and has already taken five wickets from two games. He was instrumental to India’s convincing 36-run victory over Australia in the previous match after he took two wickets in a single over to bring India back into the contest. Kumar removed Steve Smith (69 runs) and Marcus Stoinis (0) in the 40th over to give his side a great chance of sealing an important victory over the defending champions.
This is, however, not the first injury blow India has suffered in World Cup 2019. Earlier, in-form opening batsman, Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out for at least three weeks after injuring his left thumb during India vs Australia match. Dhawan scored a match-winning century against the reigning champions but did not turn up to field after hurting his left thumb during the marathon innings.
It was later confirmed that Dhawan will miss the World Cup for at least three weeks. Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been called up as cover for the 33-year-old, in case he fails to recover on time and is forced out of the tournament.
