The 33-year-old cricketer wrote a letter to BCCI on Wednesday informing about his decision of retirement, which he took after he was not selected to replace injured Shikhar Dhawan or Vijay Shankar in ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Right-handed batsman Rayudu was a  part of the reserved squad of Indian team in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, however, Rishabh Pant and Mayank Agarwal were selected as the replacements for Dhawan and Shankar respectively and given a ticket to England.
