The 28-year-old later apologised for the language he used with a spectator when he was dismissed for just two runs in Anrich Nortje’s over. During the opening day of the Johannesburg test – a venue known for its often hostile atmosphere – Stokes was caught on television shouting at a fan off-camera as he made his way up the tunnel into the England dressing room. The 28-year-old did not take a liking to this behaviour and reacted angrily to fans comments which were caught on camera. Ben Stokes on Friday, issued a statement on his official twitter account where he apologised for his actions on the field. ‘I should have not reacted that way. As I was leaving the playing area, I was subjected to repeated abuse from the crowd’ the 28-year-old said. ‘I admit my reaction was unprofessional and I sincerely apologise for the language I used’ the all-rounder added.

Speaking of the match, England are in a spot of bother as they are 192/4 after stumps on Day 1. Captain Joe Root and Ollie Pope are out on the pitch for the visitors, both have got a good start and will be hoping to take advantage of it and make a big score.
