England all-rounder Ben Stokes was involved in a foul-mouthed argument with a fan during the ongoing Test match between South Africa and England at the Wanderers Stadium. The 28-year-old later apologised for the language he used with a spectator when he was dismissed for just two runs in Anrich Nortje’s over. According to various media reports, a middle-aged male supporter wearing a South Africa ODI jersey had walked more than 50 metres to abuse the England all-rounder. The supporter allegedly called Stokes a ‘Ginger’ and compared him to the famous Pop singer Ed Sheeran. The 28-year-old did not take a liking to this behaviour and reacted angrily to fans comments which were caught on camera. The England player who was named as the BBC Sports Personality of the Year in December 2019 could possibly face sanctions for his actions while England cricket board has asked for extra security for players and staff.

Ben Stokes on Friday, issued a statement on his official twitter account where he apologised for his actions on the field. ‘I should have not reacted that way. As I was leaving the playing area, I was subjected to repeated abuse from the crowd’ the 28-year-old said. ‘I admit my reaction was unprofessional and I sincerely apologise for the language I used’ the all-rounder added.

Speaking of the match, England are in a spot of bother as they are 192/4 after stumps on Day 1. Captain Joe Root and Ollie Pope are out on the pitch for the visitors, both have got a good start and will be hoping to take advantage of it and make a big score.
