He was at the slips and already grabbed four catches in on day two at the Newlands Cricket Stadium in Cape Town. Now on day three, Stokes took the fifth catch of the inning and became the first English cricketer to grab five catches in an inning.

Stokes went on to surpass the record of Joe Root who had grabbed four catches in an inning. Root previously grabbed four catches in one inning. This was the 12th time that a cricketer grabbed five catches in an inning in the history of Test cricket. James Anderson snapped five wickets in an inning and bowled at an economy of 2.11. Talking about the match, the South Africans got bundled out on the score of 223 runs in response to England’s 269 runs. As of now England is currently batting with the loss of four wickets.
