Just as when everything seemed to be conducted without any controversies in the context of the appointment of the head coach of the Indian Women’s cricket team, controversy has surrounded the whole process of selection. It all began when Vinod Rai, Chief of Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), had released a statement saying that the interviews for the selection of the Indian women’s team will take place at BCCI’s headquarters in Mumbai.

As per a report in Hindustan Times, Diana Edulji, another CoA member, had told the English daily that the ad-hoc committee appointed by the BCCI didn’t have her approval. The following incident adds to the numerous episodes in the recent past where the members in the CoA have been at loggerheads. It is also reportedly being said that Diana Edulji had asked BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and General Manager Cricket Operations Saba Karim to put the interviewing process of the shortlisted candidates on hold. Earlier today, WV Raman was appointed as the head coach of the Indian Women cricket team over Gary Kirsten. The other shortlisted candidates for the post were Venkatesh Prasad, Manoj Prabhakar, Trent Johnston, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Brad Hogg, Herschelle Gibbs, and Kalpana Venkatachar among others.
