BCCI Set To Invite Fresh Applications For Indian Cricket Team Coach, Ravi Shastri Will Have To Re-Apply To Retain Position.
Rumours of BCCI not renewing the contracts of the current head coach and incumbent Ravi Shastri and his support staff of Bharat Arun, Sanjay Bangar and R Sridhar was already out in the media. ANI’s tweet on the same confirms the news. Meanwhile, the current support staff led by Shastri has been given a 45-day extension at the end of the 2019 Cricket World Cup. Shastri and co. still has the option to reapply for the job but the team is certain to have a new trainer and physio following the departure of Shankar Basu and Patrick Farhart, who left after India's heart-breaking semi-final exit from CWC 2019. It, however, looks unlikely that the same support staff will be re-selected especially after their failure to solve the team’s recurring middle-order woes.
Shastri is currently on his second stint with the Indian national cricket team and was appointed after Anil Kumble's premature exit owing to his differences with captain Virat Kohli. He had earlier served as the director of the Indian cricket team from August 2014 to 2016.
