The KKR support staff and international commitments seem to have a deep connection with each other. From Trevor Bayliss to Matthew Mott, all these were part of the Kolkata Knight Riders support staff in the cash-rich league and later earned international contracts with England. Under Bayliss, KKR won the IPL 2012 and 2014 title after which he was later appointed as England's head coach. The same is the condition with Matthew Mott, who was the assistant coach with the Knight Riders, and now is the white ball coach of England. Brendon McCullum is another name who is currently serving his duties for England as the head coach in the longer format. Nitish Rana Shares KKR Mentor Gautam Gambhir's WhatsApp Message 'Let's Create Something Special' After Kolkata Knight Riders Lift IPL 2024 Title (See Post)

Same pattern seems to repeat in the case of Gautam Gambhir. There was a 360-degree shift in the performance of the Kolkata Knight Riders ever since Gambhir joined the management as a mentor. KKR won their third trophy and coincidently, Gambhir was part of every successful triumph with two titles as captain and one as mentor. Shah Rukh Khan Offers Blank Cheque to Gautam Gambhir for Staying As KKR Mentor Amidst Reports Of Former Cricketer Being Considered for India's Head Coach Role: Report

With BCCI searching for a head coach as well due to Rahul Dravid's tenure getting over after the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. Gautam Gambhir tops the list in the list of probable candidates. However, any official announcement is yet to be made regarding the matter. As per a report by Cricbuzz, a top IPL franchise owner who is equal to the top management of the BCCI states that Gambhir's appointment as India's head coach is very certain and the announcement can be made very soon.

However, being a mentor of an IPL team and India's head coach are two different jobs. Being the head coach of India is very tough as it includes a lot of travelling and also, the individual can not get into other jobs as well. Gautam Gambhir has been at his best from playing cricket for the nation or guiding young players by being part of the management. Gambhir is a very dedicated person and may decide what may be best for him.
