After Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali sparked out a match-fixing debate by saying that Indian team will deliberately lose to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 to deny semi-final berth to Pakistan, he was severely trolled by Indian fans on social media who called him crazy. During a debate on a news channel, 48-year-old Ali had said Indians will not want Pakistan to qualify for the semi-finals of CWC 2019 and will under-play during their upcoming ties against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Basit Ali Smells a Rat in New Zealand Losing Against Pakistan in CWC 1992, Ignites Match-Fixing Debate (Watch Video)

“India has played only five matches so far and they would never want Pakistan to qualify for the semi-final. India’s remaining matches are against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, and the way they played against Afghanistan everyone saw it,” Ali had said. Have a look at the video.

Hypothetic thoughts of Basit Ali

Ali, however, was mercilessly roasted by Indian cricket fans who called him "idiot" for having such a "low thinking." While some criticised the former right-handed batsman for his imaginary allegations on Team India, other came up with hilarious memes to make fun of Ali, who represented Pakistan in 19 Tests and 50 ODIs from 1993 to 1996. Nice Analysis

Pakistan, who were on the verge of going out of the CWC 2019 tournament after its loss to India by 89 runs, made a strong comeback in the tournament after winning back-to-back matches against England and New Zealand. With six points in as many games, the Asian team is a strong contender to enter the semis along with England, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Interestingly, Pakistan’s entry into semi-final depends a lot upon the results of India’s clashes against England, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh as the Sarfaraz Ahmed-led team will benefit from the victories of Virat Kohli and company.

Talking about India, the top-ranked ODI team has been unbeaten in the tournament so far, winning five matches out of six games. One match against New Zealand was abandoned without a ball being bowled. The men in blue hold the 2nd position on the points table currently with 11 points while playing one match less than their successor Australia.

Pakistan will play against Afghanistan and Bangladesh on June 29 and July 5 respectively. The Asian cricket team hold the 6th position on the points table with seven points in seven matches, following Bangladesh who are on the 5th spot with an equal number of points.
