Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the match no 42 of VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL), 2019. The action took place at Bangalore team's home ground M Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB batted first and posted a mammoth total of 202/4 where their batsman AB de Villiers played a fine knock of 82(44). Apart from him RCB wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel also contributed from his bat with a fine inning of 43 from 24 balls. In reply, KXIP made 185/7 in 20 overs, as unlike previous matches, Bangalore bowlers bowled well in the death overs. From Punjab side, their wicket-keeper batsman Nicholas Pooran batted well to score 46 from 28 balls to take their side close to the total. However, he was dismissed in the 19th over by RCB pacer Navdeep Saini. RCB spinner Yuzvendra Chahal bowled only two overs in the last match, however, he has taken 14 wickets from 11 matches so far with the economy of 7.82. Fortunes seem to have turned for RCB since last four games, as the team who was struggling to register a win has won four games in a row. Bangalore still has three matches left in this tournament, if they manage to win all their remaining matches they have a good chance to make it to the playoff, however, their Net Run Rate will play a crucial role then.
