South Africa spinner Imran Tahir has gone past yet another milestone. The 40-year-old spinner recently became the oldest South African player to play for his side when he featured in the opening match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against England at Kennington Oval, London. Today, on Sunday, Tahir is playing in his 100th one-day international match in Bangladesh vs South Africa match at Oval, London. Tahir, as of today, is 40 years and 67 days old and is the oldest to represent South Africa. Before him, this distinction belonged to Omar Henry who was 40 years and 39 days when he played against Sri Lanka in Wellington at the 1992 World Cup. The spinner also featured in his 100th ODI after he was selected in the playing XI against Bangladesh in today's World Cup match.

Tahir is also the only South African so far to take a five-wicket haul in a match in World Cup. Tahir made his debut in one-day cricket in the South Africa v West Indies match at Delhi, February 24, 2011, at the age of 31. He made his test debut for South Africa at Cape Town against Australia in 2011. Tahir made his T20 debut in the Sri Lanka v South Africa match at Colombo (RPS) on August 2, 2013. The 40-year-old is still going strong and proving the age-old adage "age is just a number" true in every sense of the world.
