Azam reached the milestone in his 71st innings, surpassing Kohli who had taken 82 innings for the achievement. Azam remains behind Hashim Amla (64 innings) and Quinton de Kock (64). Moreover, the Pakistani batsman also surpassed Javed Miandad and became the fastest Pakistani cricketer to hit 1000 runs in a calendar year. Azam’s innings witnessed him smashing 8 fours and 4 sixes, taking Pakistan to 305-7 while batting first. Opener Fakhar Zaman smashed a half-century to give a good start to Pakistan. Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 2nd ODI is part of the three-match ODI series in ongoing Sri Lanka’s tour of Pakistan 2019. The series also consists of three T20I matches. The first ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka was washed out due to rain. This is a historic time for Pakistan Cricket after it was banned from hosting any international matches in 2009. The decision was issued by ICC after a terrorist attack on Sri Lanka team in Lahore in 2009. Many Sri Lanka cricketers like Lasith Malinga, Angelo Mathews, Dimuth Karunaratne among others opted out of Sri Lanka's Tour of Pakistan 2019 due to security reasons.
