Australian middle-order batsman Usman Khawaja’s brother, Arsalan Khawaja, was arrested early morning on Tuesday in Parramatta over fake terror 'hit list’. The counter-terrorism investigators arrested Arsalan after finding a notebook containing alleged concocted plans to carry out terror attacks in Australia, reports news.com.au. Meanwhile, reportedly, Arsalan has been charged with forgery and attempting to pervert justice.

What led to Arsalan’s arrest is that a handwritten book was found at the University of New South Wales, outlining alleged plans for a series of attacks. Soon after that, Mohamed Nizamdeen, a PhD student and an employee of the university were arrested. However, it was later found that Arsalan allegedly made up the fake ‘hit list’ to frame Nizamdeen. India vs Australia 2018-19 Test Series: Aussies Announce 14-Man Squad For First Two Matches

Meanwhile, the Australian cricketer has issued a statement requesting for his family’s privacy. “I won’t be saying much guys. It is a matter for the police to deal with. Out of respect for the process, it’d be inappropriate for me to make any further comment. I just ask you to please respect my privacy and my family’s privacy during this time,” news.com.au report quoted Usman.
