Australia defeated rivals England in the final of ICC Women’s World T20 2018 by eight wickets in Antigua. Chasing paltry a total of 106 runs, Australia reached the target in 15.1 overs with eight wickets in hand. Australia’s chase began on a positive note with wicket-keeper batter Alyssa Healy (22) collecting some early boundaries. However, she was dismissed in the fifth over and a coupe. After picking two wickets, it looked like England will make things tough for Australia despite putting the low total on board. However, Ashleigh Gardner and captain Meg Lanning shared unbeaten 62 off 48 balls for the third wicket to guide their side to victory. Gardner scored 33 while Lanning chipped in with 28.

Earlier, England decided to bat first after winning the toss. England kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bundled out for 105 runs. Danielle Wyatt was the top-scorer for her side, scoring 43 off 37 balls. For Australia, Gardner picked 3/22 while Megan Schutt and Georgia Wareham scalped two wickets each.
Australia had previously won the tournament in 2010, 2012 and 2014. And this is now their third win over England in the final of World T20. Australia finished second Group B after facing their lone defeat in the tournament against India. In the semis, Australia defeated hosts and defending champions Windies.
