The 14th edition of Asia Cup is upon us! The cricket tournament featuring Asia’s best teams is scheduled to begin from September 15 to 28. The Asia Cup 2018 will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The 2018 edition of Asia Cup was initially scheduled to take place in India. The last edition of Asia Cup was held in 2016 in Bangladesh and it was for the first time played in a T20I format. The organisers changed the format as World T20 succeeded the 2016 edition of the tournament. However, the 2018 Asia Cup returns to the traditional format of 50 overs.
Out of 13 editions, India have been the most successful team. The Men in Blue have won a record number of six titles while Sri Lanka comes second with five trophies. The 2018 Asia Cup will be the third edition of the tournament to take place in the UAE. The inaugural edition of Asia Cup in 1983/84 took place in the UAE and only India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka participated. In 1994/95, UAE once again hosted the Asia Cup.
