Asia Cup 2023 kick-started on August 30. The 16th edition of the continental tournament has witnessed some fascinating contests and teams have left no stone unturned to trump the other. Barring the first Asia Cup Super Four game which is at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, the remaining games of the competition are slated to be held in Colombo. Given Colombo has witnessed continuous rain in the recent past, the same trend could be followed going ahead. However, it has been reported by Cricbuzz that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has decided to shift the games to Hambantota. It is known that the ACC has also taken into consideration the weather patterns in Hambantota and made the decision.
The observations have been made on the basis of weather reports on both Colombo and Hambantota While the probability of rain in Colombo in the next 10 days is over 50 per cent, the chances of rain are reportedly only 20 per cent. Hence, ACC has decided to shift the venue. However, it is expected to pose a lot of logistical issues for the ACC as the Sri Lanka leg of the Super Four stage is slated to kick-start on September 9.
