Pakistan’s fast bowler Hasan Ali has beaten Virat Kohli in the Yo-Yo test score. The pacer, who is part of Pakistan’s Asia Cup squad, during the recently conducted fitness test recorded a score of 20. Ali’s score is slightly better than Indian captain Virat Kohli’s score, which is believed to be around 19.1 to 19.3. Ali apparently has emerged as the top-scorer in the Pakistan squad. According to a report in Sports360, Sarfraz Ahmed and Shoaib Malik managed scores of 18.4 and 17.8 respectively. All-rounder Imad Wasim, who reportedly failed the test, managing a score of only 17.2, was subsequently dropped from the squad along with Mohammad Hafeez.

Teams around the world have made it mandatory for players to pass the Yo-Yo fitness test. Recently, India’s middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu was left out of the team after he failed to pass the test. Each team has set its own minimum benchmark. India have benchmark at 16.1, while England and New Zealand have their minimum scores at 19. Pakistan and Sri Lanka, on the other hand, have kept their minimum benchmark at 17.4.

Meanwhile, Pakistan named their squad for the Asia Cup 2018 and included five fast-bowlers including Ali. Pakistan will open their Asia Cup campaign against the qualifying team on September 16 and the face traditional rivals India on September 19. Sadly, for cricket lovers there will be no contest between Pakistan bowlers and Kohli as the Indian captain has been rested for the tournament.
