But yesterday against Pakistan, India suffered the first injury scared with Hardik Pandya being taken out of the ground on a stretcher. Injuries continue to bother India as Axar Patel injured his left index finger while fielding in the game against Pakistan and Shardul Thakur was experiencing right hip and groin soreness. The official website of the BCCI read, “The Senior Selection Committee has decided to make three changes to the Indian squad for the ongoing Asia Cup owing to injuries to three members of the team.” The website further informed that the medical team of the BCCI is looking after Hardik Pandya’s injury. While speaking about Axar Patel’s injury, the website read, “He was sent for scans and the results showed that he had a tendon tear.” According to the press release of the BCCI, “Mumbai pacer Shardul Thakur experienced right hip and groin soreness after the game against Hong Kong.” Thus all three would be unavailable of the tournament.
Yesterday, itself, Hardik Pandya’s injury looked serious as he fell on the ground during the follow-up in the 18th over. Harbhajan Singh also tweeted about Hardik’s Injury and hoped that the injury was not very serious. “@hardikpandya7 being stretchered off. Hope his injury is not too serious. Take care 🙏🏻 #INDvPAK #AsiaCup2018,” read his tweet.
