India might have lost the series against England, but India captain Virat Kohli and former England captain Alastair Cook are on the verge of achieving another milestone. As India take the field against England, on Friday, both Kohli and Cook would be looking to accomplish another feat, before one ends the series, while another ends his career.
In his glittery career so far, Virat Kohli has scored a total of 23 Test centuries and is one short of the legendary Vivian Richards’ 24. If Kohli scores a century at the Kennington Oval, he will equal Richards’ record of most number of Test hundreds.
While the West Indies great scored 24 centuries and 45 half-centuries in his 121-match career, where he made a total of 8,540 runs. On the other hand, Kohli has scored 23 centuries and 19 fifties in his 70-match career, where he has made a total of 6,098 runs.
Talking about Alastair Cook’s milestone, the England opener is only a run short to complete 1,000 runs at the iconic Oval Stadium. Cook has scored 999 runs in 12 games he has played at the venue.
His best record, of scoring most runs at a single venue, is at Lord’s Stadium, where the former England captain has amassed 1,937 runs in 26 games he has played at the venue. Alastair Cook had announced his retirement from international cricket, on Monday, and his match against India at Oval will be his last.
