The IPL 2018 begun yesterday with an opening match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. The contest between the arch-rivals was a nerve-wracking as CSK won only by 1 wicket. Today, Kings XI Punjab take on Delhi Daredevils in the second game of IPL at the IS Bindra stadium in Mohali.

Team Kings XI Punjab so far has not won a single title in the IPL so far. However, the team has reached the semifinals once in 2008 and the runners-up stage in 2014.  Let’s check out a few cool facts about the team over the years in the IPL.

  • The team is owned by Dabur group's Mohit Burman (46%), the Wadia group's Ness Wadia (23%), Preity Zinta (23%), and Karan Paul of the Apeejay Surendera Group (minor stake).

  • Talking about the logo of the KXIP, the crest showcases a banner inscribed with ‘K.J.H.P.H’. These letters stand for Kashmir, Jammu, Himachal, Punjab, and Haryana, in the same sequence as they appear on the map of India. The reason given for this on the KXIP website, it says "While our name may only have ‘Punjab’ as an intrinsic part, it is all these states that our team proudly.

  • The two lions depict the strength & fierceness of the Punjabi and the desire to excel in cricket.

  • The team has had 9 captains so far in 11 years.

  • Shaun Marsh became the first Orange Cap holder of the IPL in 2008. He scored 616 runs in 11 matches.

About KXIP’s match today against the Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab have enjoyed some sort of dominance over the neighboring Delhi Daredevils.
