Sachin Tendulkar’s son Arjun has secured a berth in U 19 squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka, reported Indian Express. He has been a part of the squad for the four-day matches and not the limited over games. The team will be led by Delhi based Anuj Rawat, who was a part of U-19 cricketers attending Zonal Cricket Academy.
The left-arm spinner had picked a couple of five-wicket hauls during Under-19 squad in the Cooch Behar Trophy last season. “I used to play taekwondo, cricket football, swimming and somehow cricket kicked in and everything else took a back seat,” he was quoted as saying by ABC News then. “I just got stronger, grew taller and I loved bowling fast from my childhood. I thought I may as well be a quick bowler because there aren’t many in India.”
India will travel to Sri Lanka in June and the one-day squad will be led by Aryan Juyal. He made his debut in the Spirit of Cricket Global Challenge in Australia. Representing Cricket Club of India, his all-around picked 4 wickets and made 48 runs off 27 balls against Hong Kong at Bradman Oval. "I'm just so privileged to play on the ground named after the Bradman, it's unbelievable. I just got stronger [growing up], grew taller and I loved bowling fast from my childhood. I thought I may as well be a quick bowler because there aren't many in India," Arjun was quoted as saying then by abc.net.au. We wish him good luck!
