Former English cricketer Andrew Flintoff has been admitted to hospital after suffering a  car accident. Flintoff, 45, faced an unfortunate car accident at the Top Gear test track at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey. The accident occurred on Monday, December 12, following which Flintoff was airlifted to the hospital. The BBC later claimed that the car accident did not happen at a very high speed. The Sun confirmed that the former English cricketer's injuries are not life-threatening.

"Freddie was injured in an accident at the Top Gear test track this morning - with crew medics attending the scene immediately," stated BBC.

"He has been taken to hospital for further treatment and we will confirm more details in due course," the statement further adds.

Known as one of the best English cricketers of all time, Flintoff was an excellent cricketer during his playing days. The all-rounder had played 79 tests, 141 ODI and 7 T20I for the English team. He has scored over 7000 runs and picked up 400 wickets including all formats. He finally retired from cricket in 2009. Ricky Ponting Picks Andrew Flintoff’s Over From 2005 Ashes Test Series As Best He Faced, Disappointed Twitterati Remind Him of Ishant Sharma’s Spell During 2008–09 Test Series.

After his retirement from cricket, Flintoff became a professional boxer and defeated Richard Dawson in his only professional bout in November 2012 in Manchester. He finally became a presenter of the British tv series Top Gear in 2019. Since then he has been associated with the show. Interestingly this is not the first time, Flintoff suffered an accident.

Earlier in 2019, Flintoff was involved in another car accident while filming for Top Gear at Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire. Flintoff was reportedly driving at a speed of 125 mph and fortunately came out without any injuries. In the same year,  the former cricketer had another minor accident in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

With Flintoff being injured, the filming of Top Gear has been currently postponed.
