Amit Mishra was born on Nov 24, 1982, in Delhi. He made his Test debut in the year 2008 against Australia in the 2nd Test at Mohali. Mishra was given an opportunity in that match due to Anil Kumble's injury.  In limited overs, Amit Mishra made his debut in One-Day International against South Africa in 2003 while in T20Is he played his first game against Zimbabwe in 2010. From 22 Test Matches, Amit Mishra has taken 76 wickets, while from 36 ODIs he has bagged 64 wickets. Amit Mishra has played for Deccan Chargers in the year 2011 and 2012, for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the year 2013 and 2014. He has played maximum seasons for Delhi franchise (Delhi Daredevils 2008-10) and from 2015 he has been associated with them. Delhi Daredevils changed their name to Delhi Capitals in the year 2019. He can be termed as hat-trick king in Indian Premier League, as he has taken it on three occasions.

Amit Mishra's Hat-Tricks

1. Delhi Daredevils vs Deccan Chargers in Delhi, May 15, 2008

In this match, Delhi Daredevils batted first and set the target of 195 runs. Amit Mishra bought Deccan Chargers in that match by breaking 50 runs partnership by dismissing Shahid Afridi in the 7th over and in the very next over he dismissed Herschelle Gibbs. Amit Mishra wrapped up the tail to bag 1st hat-trick in IPL by removing Ravi Teja, Pragyan Ojha and RP Singh in the first three deliveries of the last over to help Delhi Daredevils win by 12 runs. Mishra was chosen the Man of the Match for his figures of 5/17 in 4 overs.

2. Deccan Chargers vs Kings XI Punjab in Dharamsala- May 21, 2011

Amit Mishra took his 2nd hat-trick of Indian Premier League (IPL) against Kings XI Punjab, but this time he bowled for Deccan Chargers. Shikhar Dhawan's knock of unbeaten 95 runs helped Deccan Chargers set the target of 199 runs. In the 16th over, he took wickets of Ryan McLaren, Mandeep Singh and Ryan Harris to reduce Kings XI Punjab to 102/8 in 15.5 overs from 102/5. He further dismissed Praveen Kumar in the 18th over to finish his figure 4/9 in four overs to help Deccan Chargers win by 82 runs.

3. Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Pune Warriors in Pune-April 17, 2013 

Amit Mishra can term this as the best hat-trick of his career as he took four wickets in one over. Pune Warriors had the match in their hand when they needed 14 runs from last two overs to chased down the target of 120 runs. When Amit Mishra came to bowl the 19th over, he first dismissed Angelo Mathews, the skipper of Pune Warriors, then a ball later, he went on to wrap up the tail by removing Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rahul Sharma and Ashoke Dinda in a row.  Mishra was adjudged Man of the Match in that game for bagging four wickets in an over and also scoring important 30 runs from 24 balls to help Sunrisers Hyderabad reached the total of 119/8 in 20 overs.

Amit Mishra almost took the fourth hat-trick in IPL 2019 against Rajasthan Royals while playing for Delhi Capitals. Rajasthan Royals' Krishnappa Gowtham faced the hat-trick ball, however, he was dropped by Trent Boult when the ball was hit high up in the air. Amit Mishra is the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL with 157 wickets to his name from 147 matches.
