India suffered another blow in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 (CWC 2019) as all-rounder Vijay Shankar is ruled out of the tournament due to a toe injury. Shankar was hit by Jasprit Bumrah in the nets and was subsequently left out of India’s playing XI against England. Shankar has now been ruled out of the CWC 2019 and it is right-handed batsman Mayank Agarwal who replaces the injured all-rounder. Vijay Shankar Ruled Out of ICC CWC 2019 Due to Injury, Mayank Agarwal to Replace Him; Twitter Reacts.

Earlier, India had included Rishabh Pant as a replacement for opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan. Agarwal will be now second replacement in the Indian World Cup squad. Interestingly, the selectors continue to ignore middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu, who was in India’s scheme of things till March this year.

As the news broke out that Agarwal will replace Shankar, Twitterati came up with funny reactions and started trolling Rayudu with funny memes. Some even believed that Rayudu’s ‘3d glasses’ tweet has done the damage for him.

After being left out of the World Cup squad, Rayudu took to Twitter to take a dig at selectors and wrote: “ordered 3D glasses to watch World Cup.” Rayudu’s tweet was in response to the selectors’ comments that Shankar being an all-rounder brings in three-dimensional aspect to the play and thus he was chosen over the middle-order batsman.

Shankar was included to the playing XI only after Dhawan’s injury and he batted at number four with KL Rahul promoted as an opener. Against England, it was Pant who replaced Shankar in the playing XI.
