Like rest of the other matches, this match too witnessed a heavy downfall. But umpire Aleem Dar won the hearts of the netizens with his commitment. The Sri Lankan team posted a total of 367 runs for England at the R Premadasa Stadium. When the game was obstructed by the rains, England was on the score of 136 runs from 26 overs by losing eight wickets.
In the 27 overs, off-spinner Akila Dhananjaya got Liam Plunkett for an LBW and Aleem Dar raised the finger. But Plunkett opted for a review and suddenly there was a downpour. The players rushed into their respective dressing rooms, but Aleem Dar stood there waiting for the third umpire’s review. Dar waited in the rain for the DRS and won the hearts of the netizens. The DRS also stated that Plunkett was out and with this England had got 9 down for 132 runs. Check out the video.

The match resulted in a victory for the hosts via the Duckworth-Lewis method. Sri Lanka and England next play a one-off T20I on October 27 at the M Premadasa Stadium.
