England’s highest run-scorer in Tests Alastair Cook played his last innings in the international cricket during India vs England fifth Test at the Oval. Cook’s stay came to end in the 95th over when he was caught off Hanuma Vihari. The England opener smashed 14 fours during his impressive knock. Soon after his departure, Cook apparently received the standing ovation.

During the fifth Test, Cook also climbed up to the fifth position on the most runs in Test cricket list and is behind Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Jacques Kallis, and Rahul Dravid. Cook also surpassed Kumar Sangakkara’s tally of 12,400 runs and now becomes the left-hander with most runs in Test cricket.
Cook ends his career with 12472 runs from 161 Tests, averaging 46.95, which includes 33 centuries and 57 half-centuries. In 92 ODIs, Cook managed to score 3204 runs with five centuries and 19 half-centuries.
