Ajinkya Rahane who had last played Test series in December 2018, has brought up his 20th half-century in the match which is currently underway at the Maharashtra Cricket Association in Pune.  The Mumbai batsman walked in to bat after Chestehwar Pujara got dismissed by Kagiso Rabada on the score on the score of 58 runs. During the course of his innings, Rahane slammed eight fours and no maximums ad batted at an average of 35.00. The two batsmen brought in 140 runs to the partnership. Rahane after the departure of Pujara was quite watchful since the start of the innings as wickets kept falling from the other end. Rahane displayed immense temperament during his innings and faced 141 balls to notch up his 20th half-century. Talking about the game, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Rohit Sharma who slammed a century in both the innings of the last Test match, couldn’t do much with the bat and made way to the pavilion on the score of 14 runs.

The Indian opener was subjected to trolls for his performance. However, Sharma’s fellow opener Mayank Agarwal who made a double century in the first game at Vishakhapatnam once again chipped in with a century and thus became the second opener after Virender Sehwag to score a back-to-back hundred against South Africa. Whereas, Chestehwar Pujara scored yet another half-century. Virat Kohli’s masterclass continued as he notched up his 23rd half-century.
