Ajinkya Rahane is likely to leave Rajasthan Royals in order to play for Delhi Capitals in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. The batsman has played nine seasons for the Rajasthan franchise and was the mainstay of their batting line-up too. So, his ouster will definitely create a void in the side’s top order and it will be interesting to see who will replace the veteran batsman. The 31-year old, who has a price tag of Rs. 4 crores, has played 140 matches in the cash-rich league in which he aggregated 3820 runs at an average of almost 33. According to a report of Sportstar, the trade of the batsman is expected to be completed by November 14, before the transfer window closes. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, who is the mentor the Delhi side, considers Rahane as all a player of all format and must have played an important role in the decision-making. The top-order of Delhi Capitals consists of batsmen like Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant who were phenomenal in the last edition of the tournament. So, it will be interesting to see how the right-handed batsman will be fitted in the playing XI. Before Rahane, the Delhi side also roped in the services of Ravichandran Ashwin from Kings XI Punjab. So, the franchise have certainly prepared a strong squad for the tournament and will eye to lift their maiden IPL title in the 2020 edition of the showpiece tournament.
