This will be the ninth time these two teams take on each other. CSK enjoys a dominant head-to-head lead with six wins out of eight matches. Earlier, SRH and CSK met twice in the league stage, so this will be the third meeting between these two teams this season. Here’s a quick recap of what happened in those previous two matches:
First match: SRH vs CSK at Rajiv Gandhi Intl. Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad on April 22
The first meeting this season took place at SRH’s home venue. It was a close contest with CSK prevailing by just four runs. Chasing 183, SRH were restricted to 178 for six in their allotted 20 overs. Both Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu scored half-centuries in this match. For SRH, captain Kane Williamson scored 51-ball 84 but in a losing cause. The win at that point in time helped CSK climb to the top of the team standings.
Second match: CSK vs SRH at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on may 13
Ambati Rayudu’s maiden IPL century was the highlight of the second contest between these two sides. Rayudu’s unbeaten 100 off 62 balls powered CSK to eight-wicket win as they chased down 180 with eight wickets and an over to spare. Apart from Rayudu, Watson scored 57 as these two stitched 134 for the opening wicket. SRH despite the defeat maintained the top position on the points table. Records do favour CSK, but SRH will be keen to register their first win over CSK this season and make it to the IPL 2018 final. However, beating CSK won’t be an easy job for the Williamson-led side especially when they have a better record at the Wankhede. SRH have won just one out of four matches at the Wankhede Stadium while the win-loss ration for CSK stands at 5-6.
