Lasith Malinga joined Mumbai Indian team on Wednesday, March 27, 2019. He was initially not supposed to play in this season IPL due to a domestic ODI series in Sri Lanka. Later Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) granted him permission to play entire IPL and skip the domestic series at Sri Lanka.
However, Malinga wants to participate in the domestic ODI tournament at his home, as he wants to check on players before heading for ICC World Cup 2019. The Mumbai Indian swing bowler said ESPNcricinfo that he would consult with MI management and request them to let him participate in the ODI series from April 4 to April 11 at his home. If that happens, Malinga will skip the match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Mumbai Indians will look forward to earning two vital points in the upcoming match against RCB. Victory in the initial stages of league matches always reduces the burden of the team later on in the tournament. It will be interesting to see how both the teams fightback after getting a horrible start in Vivo IPL 2019.
