The 'Men in Blue' will begin a new era under former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir, who will succeed Rahul Dravid as head coach. The white ball tour will consist of three T20Is commencing on July 27, followed by three ODIs on August 2. The tour matches will be played at Pallekele and Colombo. Suryakumar Yadav will lead India in the T20Is, while Rohit Sharma will skipper in the 50-over tournament. However, with Gautam Gambhir expected to take over as head coach, the support staff has yet to be confirmed. Under Rahul Dravid's leadership, Vikram Rathour and Paras Mhambrey served as batting and bowling coaches, respectively, while T Dilip served as field coach. According to Cricbuzz, Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate will join the Indian team for the Sri Lanka tour, while T Dilip is believed to be retained by the BCCI. Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate were members of the KKR management team and had worked with Gautam Gambhir. Nayar and Tendo will join the Team India's support staff as assistant coaches. With Abhishek Nayar, Ryan ten Doeschate, and T Dilip confirmed as Gautam Gambhir's support staff, former South African bowler Morne Morkel stands up as a strong option to join the Indian squad as a bowling coach. Morkel played under Gambhir for KKR in the IPL 2014, and if the right-handed bowler joins the Indian side, Gambhir and Morkel may have a nice rapport.
