The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has put an end to rumours that former South African cricketer AB de Villiers will replace Virat Kohli as the captain of the side for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019. A couple of reports surfaced online, that de Villiers will be handed the responsibility as RCB chase their first IPL title. Franchise’s spokesperson has reportedly put all the rumours to rest and said Kohli will continue to lead the Bengaluru based franchise.

“We can clarify on record that the news is incorrect and Virat Kohli is very much the captain of RCB for the next season as well,” a team spokesperson was quoted as saying India Today. Gary Kirsten Replaces Daniel Vettori As Head Coach of Virat Kohli-led RCB for IPL 2019

Last month, Royal Challengers announced former Indian cricket team coach Gary Kirsten as their head coach. Kirsten has replaced former New Zealand player Daniel Vettori. RCB also removed Trent Woodhill and Andrew McDonald from their respective posts while retaining former Indian fast-bowler Ashish Nehra as the bowling coach.

Meanwhile, after having retired from international cricket, de Villiers recently announced that he will feature in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) for the first time.
