Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2018 got off to a spectacular start on April 4, 2018. The Indian contingent was led by Rio Olympics’ silver-medalist PV Sindhu. The star Badminton player headed the Indian camp for the Parade of Nations, as CWG 2018 began with a crackling and glittery opening ceremony in Gold Coast, in Australia.

The Carrara Stadium was packed with 35,000 people as an audience; they welcomed athletes in the spectacular opening ceremony which will see over 4,600 athletes compete on the global stage to stake their supremacy in a sport.

The Indian contingent, this time, will have 220 athletes participating in the multi-nation event, that will end on April 15. PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, Kidambi Srikant are one of the favorites to pick up a gold medal in this edition of CWG. The Badminton team is slated to open its campaign against the Sri Lankan team on Thursday.

There are over 275 Gold Medals up for the grabs in the CWG 2018 event. There will be over 4,600 athletes from 71 countries vying for the coveted prize! It will be for the first time that the CWG event will have an equal number of medal events for both men and women!
