It was an action-packed day for India at the Commonwealth Games 2022.  Yes, there were no medals won but boxers Sagar, Amit Panghal and also Jaismine Lobrina ensured that India would have podium finishes in the event. Besides, PV Sindhu got off to a winning start in her women's singles badminton campaign and so did Aakarshi Kashyap, with her Pakistan opponent retiring hurt. In squash, Dipika Pallikal and Saurav Ghoshal entered the mixed doubles' pre-quarters. In table-tennis, Sreeja Akulaand Manika Batra emerged victorious among other developments. Aakarshi Kashyap advanced to the second round in women's singles round of 16 badminton after her Pakistani opponent Mahoor Shahzad retired hurt. Shahzad seemed to have had a injury to her ankle after which she was unable to continue and Kashyap was declared the winner. 

Manika Batra advanced to the round of 16 in women's singles table-tennis with a victory over China's Ching Nam Fu at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Thursday, August 4. Batra beat her Canadian opponent 4-0 (11-5 11-2 11-7 11-6). 

After leading her Canadian opponent Ching Nam Fu, Manika Batra now has won the third game against her, beating her 11-7 in this round of 32 clash in table-tennis at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Thursday, August 4.

Sreeja Akula defeated Malaysia's Karen Lyne while Reeth Tennison got the better of local star Charlotte Bardsley in the women's singles round of 16 table-tennis clash on Thursday, August 4. Akula beat Lyne 12-10, 12-10, 4-11, 11-8, 11-8 while Tennison outplayed 11-8, 10-12, 11-6, 12-10, 11-3.

India entered the men's hockey semifinals with an impressive 4-1 win over Wales at the Commonwealth Games 2022 on Thursday, August 4. Harmanpreet Singh netted a hattrick as India dominated Wales to make it to the last four.

Amit Panghal has now assured a medal for India in boxing at CWG 2022 with a victory over Scotland's Lennon Mulligan in Quarterfinal 2 of men's flyweight boxing.

Hima Das has qualified for the women's 200m Heat 2 semifinals with a timing of 23.42 seconds. She was the fastest in Heat 2 with the next best being Njobvu Ronda in 23.85 seconds.
