PV Sindhu was at her usual best as she dismantled Fitriani Fitriani of Indonesia 21-14, 21-9 to enter the quarterfinals of World Badminton Championships 2018. The Sindhu vs Fitriani contest lasted just 35 minutes as the Indian shuttler dominated from the beginning. The third seed is likely to face ninth seed Sung Ji Hyun in her next match. Sindhu received a bye in Round one and now in her first outing has dished out a superb performance.

In the beginning of the opening game Fitriani took a lead over Sindhu but for a short period. The Rio Olympic Silver medallist then overtook her opponent and never looked back. At the mid-game interval, Sindhu had built her lead to 11-6. She eventually won the first game 21-14. In the second game, Sindhu continued her good show and sealed the match with a 21-9 score. BWF World Championship 2018: Kidambi Srikanth Defeats Pablo Again, Enters in Pre-quarterfinals Round.

Fitriani, who had defeated Bulgarian player Linda Zetchiri in Round one, following the defeat is now out of the tournament. Earlier in the day, Kidambi Srikanth entered the third round of the men's singles category following a hard-fought win over Pablo Abian of Spain.

The fifth-seeded Indian needed more than an hour to clinch a 21-15, 12-21, 21-14 victory over his unseeded opponent. Srikanth will face another unseeded opponent in American Daren Liew in the next round. The American defeated Misha Zilberman of Israel 21-16, 21-16 in the second round. (Inputs IANS).
