Saina Nehwal’s Road to Women’s Singles Finals Match at CWG 2018: In Women's Singles Round of 32, Saina defeated Elsie De Villiers of South Africa in straight sets 21-3, 21-1 in 18 minutes. The former World No. 1 then went on to trounce Jessica Li of Isle of Man in Round of 16 in another easy straight sets 21-4, 2-0 in 12 minutes with Li retiring hurt due to an injury. Saina Nehwal then faced a stiff challenge in form Rachel Honderich of Canada who made the Indian player stretch extra in both sets. Nevertheless, Saina won the quarterfinals match 21-8, 21-13 in 32 minutes. However, Saina Nehwal had a narrow escape against Scotland’s Kirsty Gilmour in the semifinals. She took 68 minutes to defeat Kirsty in three sets 21-14, 18-21, 21-17 and make to gold medal finals match.

PV Sindhu’s Road to Women’s Singles Finals Match at CWG 2018: Sindhu defeated Andra Whiteside of Fiji in Women's Singles Round of 32. She took 18 minutes to win the match 21-6, 21-3. In Round of 16, Sindhu Hsuan-Yu Wendy Chen of Australia 21-15, 21-9 in 34 minutes. In quarterfinals, PV Sindhu had another tough two-setter, this time against Brittney Tam of Canada who she defeated 21-14, 21-17 in 34 minutes. Coming to her semis performance, PV Sindhu knocked the defending champion Michelle Li of Canada out in in straight games 21-18, 21-8 in 36 minutes and advance into the finals.

Saina Nehwal-PV Sindhu Head-to-Head: The dual at 21st edition of the Commonwealth Games at Gold Coast, Australia on Sunday will be the fourth occasion two Indian shuttlers will be facing each other in a professional match. In the previous three encounters, the elder of the two players, Saina is leading 2-1 head-to-head against present World No. 3 Sindhu.
