The 24-year-old has defeated Chen Yufei, second seed and World No. 3 player from China in Indonesia Open 2019 semi-final match in straight games 21-19, 21-10. PV Sindhu will take on Akane Yamaguchi of Japan who got better of the top seed, Tai Tzu-Ying in straight games 21-9, 21-15. After Saina Nehwal withdrew from Indonesia Open, it left PV Sindhu under a burden of expectations to perform well. And the tall Hyderabadi shuttler did not disappoint. Seeded fifth in the competition, PV Sindhu has recorded back to back straight games win over higher-ranked players in quarters and semis clash. She defeated World No. 2 Nozomi Okuhara 21-14, 21-7 in quarter-finals on Friday. And Sindhu put up another dominant performance to breeze past Chen Yufei on Saturday.

Sindhu faced a tough match in pre-quarters, against Denmark's Mia Blichfeldt. The India badminton player defeated 21-14, 17-21, 21-11 in a match that lasted for 62 minutes. Fans in India would hope the Olympic silver medallist to continue with her red-hot form when she takes on Japanese Akane Yamaguchi who is ranked a seed higher than the fifth-seed Sindhu.
