Premier Badminton League returns with its third season. The tournament will commence on December 23, 2017 and continue until January 14, 2018. There are eight teams in fray for the latest edition including new franchises based out of Guwahati and Ahmedabad. In fact, Guwahati will host the inaugural match of Premier Badminton League 2018. The blockbuster clash between Chennai Smashers and Awadhe Warriors led by India’s top shuttlers, PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal. The match fixtures of the 23-day event is expected to a roller-coaster ride with top Indian and international players participating in it.

The eight teams participating in 2018 PBL are - Ahmedabad Smash Masters, North Eastern Warriors, Chennai Smashers, Delhi Acers, Mumbai Rockets, Awadhe Warriors, Hyderabad Hunters and Bengaluru Blasters. Chennai Smashers will be coming in as the defending champions. Under the captaincy of PV Sindhu, they defeated Mumbai Rockets to lift the title. The prize money is whopping Rs 6 crore which is divided into – the winning team gets Rs 3 crore, the runner-up bags Rs 1.5 crore while the two semi-finalists will get Rs 75 lakh each.

The five cities hosting the 23 matches in the third edition are Guwahati, Lucknow, New Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad. The venues are Karmabir Nabin Chandra Bordoloi A.C. Indoor Stadium in Guwahati, Siri Fort Sports Complex in New Delhi, Babu Banarasi Das U.P. Badminton Academy in Lucknow, Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad. The semi-final and final ties will be hosted by Hyderabad.
