Saina Nehwal’s father Harvir Singh was allowed to enter CWG Games Village after Indian Olympic Association (IOA) cleared his accommodation. Saina, on Monday evening, took to Twitter and vented out her frustration when she found her father’s name missing from team India’s official list. In a series of tweets, the Rio Olympics silver medalist expressed her displeasure. “Surprise to see that when we started from India for commonwealth games 2018 my father was confirmed as the team official and I paid the whole amount for that but when we came to the games village ... his name was cut from team official category .. and he can’t even stay with me,” Saina had tweeted.
“He can’t c [sic] my matches and he can’t enter the village nor he can meet me in anyway .. what kind of support is this. I wanted his support as I regularly take him for my competitions ...but i didn’t understand why nobody informed me all this earlier .. that he can’t enter anywhere,” Saina added in her next two tweets.
However, on Tuesday, IOA cleared her father’s name. Meanwhile, Saina tweeted, “Thank u so much @ioaindia for the support and help sorting out my father’s accreditation card in such short notice ..Hopefully it will b great for the matches ahead ..and I m sorry for all the trouble.”

Interestingly, Saina’s father’s name was already in Extra Official’s list and as per CDM Manual of Gold Coast 2018 CWG, the payment for accreditation of Extra Official does not include bed in the Games Village. It was later clarified by IOA.
Dear @NSaina , Mr. Harvir Singh is an accredited Extra Official! As stated in the CDM Manual of Gold Coast 2018 CWG and repeatedly conveyed to BAI, the payment for accreditation of Extra Official does not include bed in the Games Village. @Abhinav_Bindra @kannandelhi pic.twitter.com/bO9QcdNYD9

The CWG 2018 is scheduled to take place from April 05 to 12. Saina, who won gold in the 2010 edition of CWG, will be looking for yet another impressive performance.
