Top doubles badminton player Jwala Gutta has criticised Saina Nehwal over the CWG Games Village accreditation row. Without naming Saina, Jwala took Twitter and said that her family always paid for tickets and stayed in hotels whenever they accompanied the badminton player. Her jibe comes at a time when Saina took to Twitter to express displeasure over her father’s accommodation at the CWG Games Village. Indian Olympic Association (IOA) later clarified that Saina’s father’s name was already in Extra Official’s list and as per CDM Manual of Gold Coast 2018 CWG, the payment for accreditation of Extra Official does not include bed in the Games Village.
Meanwhile, Jwala in a couple of tweets criticised the Rio Olympics silver medalist. “Hmmm..my family always paid for tickets n stayed in hotels...I have no idea what’s being promised n what’s the demand?? But for the games when u know dates long before the team leaves..isn’t it better to book n plan in advance? Threatening not play..is it correct??,” Jwala tweeted.

“Funny...how such things like demanding for money awards plots etc etc on social media doesn’t count for controversies...and when asked for right to play is controversial,” she added.

After the accreditation issue was resolved, Saina tweeted, “ Thank u so much @ioaindia for the support and help sorting out my father’s accreditation card in such short notice ..Hopefully, it will b great for the matches ahead ..and I m sorry for all the trouble.”
Interestingly, Jwala is already in the center of another controversy. The Badminton Association of India’s (BAI) disciplinary committee has recommended a life ban her. It was reported that Jwala tried to stop some players of her franchise Krrish Delhi Smashers in the IBL from playing one of the matches.
