The 18th edition of Asian Games known as Jakarta Palembang 2018 Asian Games will be held in Indonesia between the 18th of August and 2nd September 2018 and the excitement surrounding the multi-sports tournament seems to grow with each passing day. The Bhin Bhin, a cendrawasih bird or bird-of-paradise from the eastern part of Indonesia is a symbol of strategy, which plays a crucial role in going about the preparations before the main event. Atung, a Bawean deer from Central Indonesia stands for speed and agility while Kaka, Javan rhinoceros from Western Indonesia is all about strength. There has been a lot of brainstorming done behind coming up with a trio of mascots when traditionally there always has been a single one representing some values related to the sport or the nation holding the event. The design for the mascots is also equally catchy and winning praises across the globe. Kaka, the rhino is seen wearing a neckpiece with Palembang flower motif while Bhin Bhin is given a vest with traditional Papuan asmat motif. Atung is draped in a sarong with the famous Indonesian tumpal pattern.

The government sees the Asian Games as a massive opportunity to boost tourism and create job opportunities in the country. Hence, it has undertaken a massive media campaign with the three mascots slowly and steadily reaching the far corners of the world through paid advertisements and information campaigns. The Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) has been entrusted with the task of marketing and making the event a huge hit. The Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator was used by the INASGOC team to give the three mascots various looks, and a total of 100 looks were finalized.

The Indonesian police too has cashed in on the popularity of the mascots and came up with their own ad campaign were the mascots instruct people to follow the law. It is safe to say that Bhin Bhin, Atung and Kaka are uniting a nation and have given them a lot to look forward to.
