This brings an end to India's day at the Asian Games. Day 5 was nowhere close to Day 4 for India in terms of medals. But the highlight of the day was the silver won by 15-year-old Shardul Vihan in the men's double trap event. Vihan not only held his nerves to win the silver, but also displayed remarkable skills.But the biggest loss and setback to India's campaign came when the men's Kabbadi team suffered a defeat at the hands of the Iran team in the semi-final. India's Kabaddi team had to settle for a bronze after the defeat. The women's team though, has reached the finals.Ankita Raina had to settle for bronze after losing the semi-final contest and male Tennis player Prajnesh managed to make it to the semi-finals. Squash players Joshna Chinappa, Dipiki Pallikal and Badminton stars PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal all progressed to the next round. Asian Games is proving to be a shocker for the biggest medal hopefuls. After star names in wrestling like Sushil Kumar or Manu Bhaker in shooting, it is athletes from weightlifting who fail to get a podium finish. Sathish Sivalingam who has produced phenomenal results in Commonwealth Games was reduced to tenth spot in the men's 77kg after he injured himself in failed attempt of 178 kg in clean and jerk. Meanwhile, another weightlifter Ajay Singh could also just secure a fifth position.

We have reached Day 5 of Jakarta Palembang 2018 Asian Games on August 23 (Thursday) and what a journey it has been for India so far. The little-known names before the tournament have clinched medals at the time when star players failed to do so. On day four, it was Rahi Sarnobat who fetched India its fourth gold medal and not to forget, the four Wushu bronze medals won by Narender Grewal, Surya Singh, Naorem Roshibina Devi and Santosh Kumar. Asian Games Medal Tally 2018 Updated: Check Current Table and Country-Wise Medal Standings

Shooters have won seven out of 15 total medals in Asian Games 2018 so far, and they are expected to add some more on Thursday with men’s double trap and women’s double trap event taking place at JSC – Shooting Range. Men's double trap qualification starting at 8.30am has Ankur Mittal and Shardul Vihan, while women's double trap finals beginning from 8.45am onwards will see Gold Coast CWG medallist Shreyasi Singh Varsha Varman feature in the women's final.

In Badminton, Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu are expected to win their round of 32 matches comfortably. After having a tough start in Asian Games, losing to Japan in quarter-finals stage of a team event, the star shuttlers from India would be itching to prove their mettle in singles. The round of 32 matches of women's singles, women's doubles, mixed doubles will kick-start from 11.00am onwards, while men’s doubles games begin from 11.20 onwards.

In Archery get ready to see Men’s Individual Recurve 1/16 Eliminations with Vishwas and Atanu Das in action. Women’s Individual Recurve 1/16 Eliminations has Promila Daimary and Deepika Kumari. The match begins at 9.40am IST. In squash, Saurav Ghosal will be featuring in men’s singles round of 32 against Mukhtar Wakeel Mohomed Shamil of Sri Lanka. In tennis, all eyes will be on Ankita Raina as the 25-year-old takes on Zhang Shuai of China for a place in women’s singles finals. She will also be partnering Rohan Bopanna for their quarterfinals match in mixed doubles. In Weightlifting, India’s biggest hope Sathish Sivalingam will be in action in Men’s 77Kg category.
