Asian Games 2018: Indian Women’s Handball Team Reportedly Does Not Receive Kits on Time, Forced to Play in Casuals During the Match with Kazakhstan

Controversies refuse to die for Indian Women Handball team at the Asian Games 2018. First, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) did not allow the handball team to participate. The association wanted to stick to the policy of allowing the entry of teams with eighth or higher rankings. But ahead of the Asian Games 2018, countries like Australia, Uzbekistan, China, Oman, and UAE from the tournament. Thus, India was placed on number 7 and thus was allowed to participate for the tournament in Jakarta. However, another controversy awaited the Women’s team as they played with Kazakhstan.

As per a report published in DNA, It so happened that the kits and uniforms of the team reportedly failed to reach on time. Thus, they were forced to play the sport in casuals with the patches Indian logo. The Indian handball team failed to win their first game against Kazakhstan. Placed in Group D, India lost by 19-36. However, the Indians did give a tough fight and were trailing by 13-19. But the score could not get converted into a win.

India’s Rimpi scored rights goals, with Maninder Kaur netted three. Nidhi Sharma and Ritu scored a couple of them each. Kazakhstan’s Dana Abilda scored eight goals whereas Olga Tankita got six. The difference in class between the two sides was evident as Kazakhstan got as many as 54 shots at goals as against 36 for India. India will next play Korea in their second group match on August 16. The Indian men's handball team had lost to Chinese Taipei 28-38 in its first group match yesterday.
