Asian Games 2018: Indian Bridge Team Yet To Get an Official Blazer Despite Winning Three Medals

The Indian players had a gala time at the Asian Games 2018 as the country won a total of 69 medals and reached its highest tally of accolades ever. While the athletics team had a lion’s share of a contribution to the medal tally, The Indian Bridge Team has made the nation proud by winning three medals for the country. The Bridge contingent bagged one gold and a couple of bronze medals for the country. It was Kolkata based duo Pranab Bardhan and Shibnath Sarkar won gold in the men's pair event, while the two bronzes came in the men's and mixed team events. However, they are still waiting for their official blazer which has the logo of Indian Olympic Association. Now, the players are planning to stitch the IOA logo on their blazers. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that the due was overlooked despite they won the medal for India. “Initially, we were told that we will not get any kits but later (after sports ministry's intervention) we got the jerseys but we have not still received the team blazers. The official reception is just around the corner so we have thought of stitching the logos on our own," said Debasish Ray, the team's non-playing captain and coach.

Ray also went on to reveal that the IOA was reluctant to send the bridge team to Jakarta. He also went on to say, that the team did not receive any official award or a prize from the West Bengal Government like they ave away to Swapna Burman,
