Asian Games 2018: Here’s a List of Sporting Events Indian Athletes Will Be Participating In

Asian Games 2018 are scheduled to be held in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, from August 18 to September 02. Around 45 nations will participate in the 2018 Asian Games and India is among those countries. The 2018 Asian Games will be the 18th edition of the multi-sport event. India has been participating at the Asian Games since its introduction in 1951. As far as medals tally is concerned, India’s best finish came in the 2010 edition of Asian Games at Guangzhou when the country collected 65 medals. India, however, finished sixth on the medals tally at the end of the games.

As far as gold medals are concerned, India managed to bag 15 yellow metals at the inaugural edition of the Asian Games in 1951. India will be hoping for a better finish at the medals tally in this edition. India at the recently held Commonwealth Games finished third place and clinched 26 gold, 20 silver, and 20 bronze. Around 572 Indian athletes (312 men and 260 women) will take part in the Asian Games 2018. Neeraj Chopra has been named as the flag bearer for India at the games. Indian athletes will be competing in 36 sports, which spans over to 41 events.
