Just as when it seemed that the Asian Games 2018 began on a positive note, sans any controversy, four Japanese athletes have been sent home after being alleged to pay prostitutes for sex. The Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC), on Monday, said that the four members of the Japanese contingent were of their basketball team.
It was reportedly being said that those four Japanese basketball players were seen in a red-light area of Jakarta, last week, sporting their national jerseys. At a press conference, the Japanese delegation chief said that the four (unnamed) players were sent home immediately and their national team’s membership was rescinded too.
Yasuhiro Yamashita, Japan’s delegation chief, also informed that the players had left the athletes’ village on the pretext of having dinner at a Japanese restaurant. The things went haywire when the players met some notorious localites after their dinner. The players, who were wearing the national jerseys, then went to a nearby hotel, accompanied by women, in an entertainment locale nearby, said news reports.
