Well, the Day 9 schedule of Indian athletes at Asian Games promises a lot of action in various sports and disciplines. All eyes will be on ace Indian singles shuttlers Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu playing their semi-finals matches. The two have assured two historic medals in badminton event at Asiad by making to the last four. Athletics like Sunday will again hold the key to India’s rise at the Asian Games 2018 medal table. The eighth day did not witness any golden glory, however, there was no shortage of silver medals. Indian sprinters Hima Das, Muhammed Anas and Dutee Chand, bagged silver medals along with two historic equestrian silver medals courtesy Fouaad Mirza and two bronze medals in the sport of bridge by its men’s team and mixed team. There was a heart-breaking moment with distance runner and Indian army man Govindan Lakshmanan was denied bronze medal for overstepping on the track. At the end of Day 8, India’s overall medal tally so far is 36, comprising of 7 gold, 10 silver and 19 bronze medals. India is at the 9th position in the medal table and team standings, while China, Japan and South Korea are at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
