Asian Athletics Championships 2019 Medal Tally Updated: India Win 17 Medals, Finish 4th on Medal Table and Country-Wise Standings
Among the big names missing in action are World No. 4 javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, 800m runner Manjit Singh due to injuries, while triple jumper Arpinder Singh failed to qualify.
At the end of Asian Athletics Championships 2019, India were placed at the fourth spot on medal table. Indian contingent’s total medal tally was 17 including 3 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze. Bahrain topped the medal standings of the 23rd edition of the Asian Athletics Championships held at Doha, Qatar. The side bagged a total of 22 medals that had 11 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze. China is second with 29 medals (9 gold, 13 silver and 7 bronze). Uzbekistan is the last one among the top five nations of Asian Athletics Championships with 3 gold and 2 bronze. Male medal winners from India are 1) Ajay Kumar Saroj won silver in 1500m, 2) Gavit Murli Kumar won bronze medal in 10,000m 3) Jabir Madari Palliyalil won bronze medal in 400 metres hurdles 4) Avinash Sable won silver medal in 3000 metres steeplechase 5) Tejinder Pal Singh Toor won gold medal in Shot put 6) Shivpal Singh won silver in Javelin throw.
Female medal winners from India are 1) Dutee Chand won bronze in 200m, 2) M.R. Poovamma won bronze in 400m, 3) Gomathi Marimuthu won gold medal in 800m, 4)PU Chitra won gold in 1500m 5) Sanjivani Jadhav won bronze medal in 10,000m 6) Sarita Gayakwad won bronze medal in 400 metres hurdles 7) Prachi, M.R. Poovamma, Sarita Gayakwad and V.K. Vismaya won silver medal in 4×400 metres relay 8) Annu Rani won silver in Javelin throw 9) Swapna Barman won silver medal in Heptathlon.

Bahrain athletes Dawit Fikadu and Hassan Chani bagged gold and silver medals in the 10000m final respectively. The contingent added another gold when John Kibet Koech finished on top of the podium in 3000m steeplechase final. Salwa Eid Naser and Winfred Mutile Yavi added two more gold to Bahrain’s medal tally by bagging a first place in 400m and 5000m respectively.
